Hair Fall Treatment in Bangalore

Hair Fall/Loss/Baldness is affecting not only affecting men, but also affecting women and younger age groups of 20s. It may have numerous reasons like hormonal imbalance, thyroid problem, stress, vitamin deficiency, etc. It not only affects the looks and appearance but also has a deep social impact. At Dr. Sunaina's Clinic, we employ a unique method and combination of Hair Fall Treatment in Bangalore.

Hair Shedding

It has been estimated that the scalp normally contains over 100,000 hairs, of which an average of 100 hairs shed daily. It is normal to shed between 50 and 100 hairs a day. This includes shed during combing, bathing, grey hair and a small finer hair from the hairline. So, you may be noticing more hairs in hair brush, clothes, pillow, or other places in the house.

Hair Shedding vs Hair Fall

If the body sheds more than 100 hairs every day, a person has excessive shedding and the medical term for this condition is known as ‘Telogen Effluvium.’ However, if your hair is falling from the top or crown of your head and it is not growing in those places, then it is a cause of concern related to hair loss and you may have to consult a qualified dermatologist for diagnosis of the affected scalp and may require a hair fall treatment.

Hair Follicle Growth Stages

Hair follicles undergo a repetitive sequence of growth and the rest known as the ‘hair cycle.’ It involves three stages of hair known as the Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen phases. The hair growth starts between two and six years and the growing hair is called the Anagen Hair. Sometimes it will take up to 10 years in females who want to grow their hair long. The anagen hair then goes through a transitional Catagen phase and finally becomes the resting Telogen hair, which lasts for 3-5 months. At the end of this phase, the telogen hair is eventually shed off at an average of 100 telogen hairs per day.

If a woman has excessive hair shedding more than 100 hairs, which is characterized by thinning or shedding, then this type of condition in medical term is called as Telogen Effluvium (TE). In this condition, the hair shedding increases to 2 to 3 times more in normal shedding. It may be resolved spontaneously within 6 months ( Acute Telogen Effluvium/ ATE ) or it may persist longer ( Chronic Telogen Effluvium/ CTE ).

Chronic Telogen Effluvium (CTE)

If female experiences diffuse hair loss, increased hair shedding and thinning in certain areas of the scalp, then is the pattern of hair loss called Chronic Telogen Effluvium. For a normal observer, it may look that the patient seems to have a full head of hair. This type of condition is very common in the age group of 50s and 60s and it affects men as well apart from women. This pattern of hair shedding also affects after childbirth, any major illness or surgery, chronic physical or mental stress, medical conditions such as anemia, lupus, or thyroid disorders, and with certain medications. Sometimes it may be idiopathic, i.e., without any cause.

The hair fall treatment of CTE requires a fluctuating course over several years with periods of waxing and waning. It almost NEVER progresses to actual balding. In a case of prolonged hair shedding, an effective approach for chronic telogen effluvium determines the cause of the treatment. For instance, when stress is the major cause then stress relief elimination is a long-lasting solution. However, if no apparent cause or when it happens to women under the age of 40 years of age, or if the excessive hair shedding persists for over 3 months, then a relevant hair fall treatment is conducted and warranted to quickly arrest the process.
