Mole Mapping

Annual full body mole examination and mole mapping is a good idea for all Caucasians, especially those with blonde/red hair, blue/green eyes, multiple moles and freckles and personal or family history of skin cancer. If you have had multiple sunburns in your youth and were a sun-lover who rarely used sunscreen, you are at high risk for benign, malignant and pre-malignant skin cancers.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends naked eye examination for routine screening of moles. However, examining moles with a special lens called a dermatoscope, can potentially reduce the number of unnecessary skin biopsies as well as the errors in correctly identifying a dysplastic mole or an early melanoma. Not all skin cancers are black in color. Our facility offers dermatoscopic examination of moles, along with mole mapping on a human surface anatomy mapping diagram. Your images are then sent to you via email, along with a measurement of the size of your moles on said date. This serves as your personal record of mole mapping and monitoring.
