Not every genital rash is sexually acquired. And not every sexually transmitted disease presents with genital rashes. Every Indian dermatologist is also qualified to treat venereal diseases. Certain STIs (Sexually transmitted Infections) like Chlamydia, HPV and HIV, may require multi-disciplinary approach.
Counselling, sexual partner tracking, investigation for other co-existing STIs, and assessment of complications (cervical cancer, infertility, pelvis inflammatory disease etc.) are part of the entire scope of venereology as a medical discipline. Consultation and examination is performed in a quiet, private, sensitive and non-judgmental space, with complete assurance of patient confidentiality.
